Democrats' Terrible Bind

Moderate Democrats and Republicans alike are in a "terrible" bind that
has been caused by the disappearance of the center from our modern
political spectrum.  The reliance of the public on the communications
media for forming their policy opinions and the dependence of those
media on commercial or wealthy true-believers' support for their
existence have combined to squeeze democratic philosophers out of our
political system.  They can't afford to bring their message to a lazy
public that apparently will not invest its time and effort in
preserving its long-term self-interest instead of realizing short-term
pay-back.

A compelling case must be made and presented to the disaffected middle
of the citizenry that will convince them that there is no benefit to
them from adhering to either of the far-right or far-left  That,
indeed, it is the interaction of both political approaches that most
benefits the entire collective.

What would it cost to mount a media blitz that brought a message of
political reform to the heretofore mon-voting public?  The campaign
would have to include movies, television, radio, podcasts, novels,
magazines, newspaper supplements, etc.  And it would have to enlist
the finest communications and entertainment talent.  It is not only a
matter of money--it will take a life-long commitment by effective
leaders.  Elon Musk, are you listening?

A Revolution to Defeat Trump

Trump doesn’t care or even know the consequences of his actions. His only aim is to win. His best guess of what he can accomplish that will achieve that ( the policy that pleases his base ) is what he will strive for, at whatever cost. By God he is good at doing that—ask Hillary.

Unfortunately, the best way to prevent his success in support of his base may be to find a charismatic leader to mobilize an alternative base that identifies with preserving long-term human interests and is willing to invest in achieving that goal.

He or she must be wealthy ( or convinced of it ), able to attract unquestioning support from liberal democratic voters ( or revolutionaries ), and unafraid of what could be an interminable effort.

Any volunteers?
