Trump is a Shill for Kim
Of course, President Trump is touting the success of his summit
with Chairman Kim Jong-un. Kim is a
smart manipulator who will take advantage of the easily convinced Don who, as
Putin had earlier realized, could be used to serve his own political purposes
by endorsing the outcome of the one-day Singapore summit meeting.
Kim did not have to define what he means by
“denuclearization;” apparently, nor did
he have even to address questions of human rights; nor did Trump consult with
the Pentagon or perhaps with the U.S. regional ally—South Korea—before agreeing
to suspend joint military exercises (war games) on the peninsula. God only knows that other promises were made
on Trump’s sole whim (beside beachside condos) in search of an agreement that
fit his concept of a real deal.
The U.S. President proved himself to be the perfect
negotiator of an embarrassing outcome to another useless meeting of minds with
the wily North Koreans. Trump and Kim
now can both return to their homes claiming success; Pyongyang will applaud Kim’s
newly won stature and Washington will complain again about an untrustworthy
adversary.
