SAT Scores Should Stick to Scholarship
SAT Scores Should Stick to Scholarship
The decision by the College Board to add an index of
cultural (?) adversity to its reports on applicants for college admission
dilutes the usefulness of the SAT as an ingredient in the evaluation of
the desirability of individual
prospective members of a college’s student body
The best institutions will already include factors such as race, income
levels, neighborhood and ethnic diversity, etc. in their selection
process. Those that are best at
achieving enviable learning environments will ideally be rewarded with a
respected reputation as well as supportive alumni. The College Board should not act as the
arbiter of how a college constructs its student body. Assuming this role will make it vulnerable
to being gamed by more manipulators than just test answer changers.

that China will be paying for the 25% tariffs because China is a
quasi-totalitarian economic system. The Chinese government could subsidize private producers so they can lower their
delivered gross prices below those of U.S. or other competitors, despite the
tariff charge. In that case the effective result of
U.S. trade policy will be that China will have absorbed the cost of the
tariffs, and generated additional inflation in the Chinese economy. American consumers would not be paying more
for Chinese goods, and China would be paying the price
